We are recruiting a City Plan Lead to assist us in developing, through research and analysis, an exciting City Plan and planning process for Leeds. Work which forms part of our broader 'City Movement Building' approach, which we conduct as a part of an exciting, National Lottery funded, city-wide project called Climate Action Leeds.
This work will also be based around the groundbreaking ideas of Kate Raworth's Doughnut Economics, the Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL) network and the recently formed Leeds Doughnut Coalition, and will foreground climate justice, and the climate, nature and social crises.
The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of the Doughnut Economics framework, and will be expected to take forward this doughnut framework and the ongoing work of the Leeds Doughnut Coalition.
Job Overview
Job title: City Plan Lead
FTE / Hours per week: 0.2 FTE / 1 day / 7.4 hours per week
Salary: £33,375 gross per annum, pro rata, which includes all pension, employer and employee NI, PAYE and other contributions and deductions. 2% annual pay increment.
Contract type: Employed
Contract duration: 3.5 year period, until programme end date 30th September 2025 - with a probationary period of six months, with reviews at three and six months.
Holiday and sickness provision: 28 days holiday pro rata plus statutory sick pay

Responsible to: Strategy Lead for City Movement Building
Place of work: Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, it is likely that there will be a period of significant home-working. Once established, the City Hub will be available as a space for team working.
Preferred start date: 1st April 2022
Key aspects of the role will include:
Ensuring the City Plan and the work of the programme builds on the best and most up-to-date scientific and community analysis and research
To learn from, and centrally incorporate, work coming from Doughnut Economics groups around the UK and beyond
To actively participate in, and support, the Leeds Doughnut Coalition group
Ensuring Climate Action Leeds community hubs and transition partners are supported to understand the city planning process, the doughnut approach, and how they can feed into and shape the plan
Working closely with the City Hub Lead to integrate the doughnut city planning process into the City Hub
To take a lead on emerging and proposed research and City Plan projects, such as youth-led doughnuts.
To support fundraising activities to build further capacity for this role and the wider Leeds Doughnut Coalition.
To report to, and engage with, the broader Our Future Leeds citizen network.
