Have your say on the future of Leeds! Deadline 13th September!

Leeds City Council's 13th September deadline for responding to the consultation on the Local Plan Update is fast approaching...

That's why we've put together a handy guide to help you respond to the consultation questions!

Respond to the Local Plan

Our response guide is shaped by our collective conversations and informed by our values for a zero carbon, nature friendly, socially just Leeds.

The guide walks you through the important consultation questions for each of the five main topics.

Please use our suggested responses as much or as little as you wish to help shape your own responses.

Short on time? Choose one or two of the topics to answer - any response at all is better than no response. The more people who take the time to respond, the more robust the case will be for mandating the highest environmental standards for all development in the city. You can also do a 'summary response' if you don't want to take part in the full consultation process.

What is the Local Plan?

The Local Plan is a hugely important document which offers us a real opportunity to shape how our city develops over the next 20 years - including, most importantly, the period from now to 2030, when we need to get to zero carbon.

However, if the Council doesn't hear from us that we want the very best standards in carbon reduction, biodiversity, and flood prevention, they will have no legal grounds to make it happen!

This means a Local Plan informed by ecologically progressive principles will push the Council to deliver on their commitments to tackling the climate emergency, and direct the future of Leeds' development in ways that are more favourable - not only for the climate, but also for our local communities.

Spread the word

We want to reach as many people as we can, so it would be fantastic if you could help us spread the word by sharing our response guide.

Thank you!
